1. Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 – Relevant Sections
Section 177 – General penalty for violating traffic rules
Fine: ₹500 for the first offense, ₹1,500 for subsequent offenses.
Section 184 – Dangerous driving
Fine: ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 or imprisonment up to 6 months (first offense), up to 1 year for repeat offenses.
Section 122 – Driving in a manner that obstructs traffic or causes danger
Fine: Up to ₹500.
Section 119 – Disobedience of traffic signals and signs (including one-way rule)
Fine: ₹500 to ₹1,000.
2. Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) 2023 – Criminal Offense (if applicable)
If one-way driving leads to an accident or public endangerment, the following sections may apply:
Section 281 (Earlier IPC 279) – Rash and negligent driving
Punishment: Up to 6 months imprisonment or ₹1,000 fine, or both.
Section 302 (Earlier IPC 304A) – Causing death due to reckless driving
Punishment: Up to 5 years imprisonment or fine, or both.
Additional Fines (as per State Rules – Gujarat)
According to Gujarat’s updated traffic fines:

ભારતમાં વન-વે ડ્રાઈવિંગના ભંગ માટે મોટર વાહન અધિનિયમ, 1988 અને ભારતીય ન્યાય સંહિતા (BNS) 2023 હેઠળ સજાઓ અને દંડ નક્કી કરવામાં આવ્યા છે. ગુજરાતમાં જો વન-વે નિયમોનો ભંગ કરશો તો કાયદાકીય કાર્યવાહી થઈ શકે છે.
1. મોટર વાહન અધિનિયમ, 1988 – સંબંધિત કલમો
કલમ 177 – સામાન્ય ટ્રાફિક નિયમોના ઉલ્લંઘન માટે દંડ
દંડ: ₹500 (પ્રથમ ગુનાહિત), ₹1,500 (પુનરાવૃત્તિ ગુનાહિત માટે).
કલમ 184 – ખતરનાક અને બેદરકાર ડ્રાઈવિંગ
દંડ: ₹1,000 થી ₹5,000 અથવા 6 મહિના સુધીની જેલ (પ્રથમ ગુના માટે).
બીજીવાર જો એક જ ગુનો કરાય તો 1 વર્ષ સુધી જેલની સજા થઈ શકે.
કલમ 122 – ડ્રાઈવિંગ દરમિયાન ટ્રાફિક અવરોધ કરવો અથવા ખતરનાક રીતે વાહન ચલાવવું
દંડ: ₹500 સુધી.
કલમ 119 – ટ્રાફિક સિગ્નલ અને ચિહ્નોનું પાલન ન કરવું (વન-વે નિયમનો ભંગ કરવો)
દંડ: ₹500 થી ₹1,000.
2. ભારતીય ન્યાય સંહિતા (BNS) 2023 – ગુનાહિત કલમો (જો અકસ્માત થાય)
જો વન-વે ડ્રાઈવિંગના કારણે અકસ્માત થાય અથવા જાહેર જનતાને નુકસાન થાય, તો નીચેની કલમો લાગુ પડશે:
કલમ 281 (પૂર્વે IPC 279) – બેદરકાર અને જોખમી રીતે વાહન ચલાવવું
સજા: 6 મહિના સુધી જેલ અથવા ₹1,000 દંડ, અથવા બન્ને.
કલમ 302 (પૂર્વે IPC 304A) – લાપરવાહીથી ડ્રાઈવિંગને કારણે મૃત્યુ થવો
સજા: 5 વર્ષ સુધીની જેલ અથવા દંડ, અથવા બન્ને.
3. ગુજરાતમાં લાગુ પડતા દંડ અને ફાઈન્સ
ગુજરાત સરકારના તાજેતરના નિયમો અનુસાર:
વન-વે ડ્રાઈવિંગ અથવા રોંગ સાઈડ ડ્રાઈવિંગ:
₹3,000 (લાઈટ મોટર વાહન માટે)
₹5,000 (હેવી વાહન માટે)
જો આના કારણે અકસ્માત થાય તો BNS 2023 હેઠળ વધુ કડક કાર્યવાહી થઈ શકે.
