મુસ્લિમ શરિયત કાયદા હેઠળ:

હિન્દુ મેરેજ અધિનિયમ 1955ની ધારા 5(1) મુજબ:
“લગ્ન સમયે બંને પક્ષો પૈકી કોઈ પણ પહેલાથી વિવાહિત ન હોવા જોઈએ.”
આ ભંગ થાય તો:
લગ્ન અમાન્ય (Void) બને છે – ધારા 11 હેઠળ
IPC 494 અને 495 મુજબ દંડનીય ગુનો (Bigamy) બને છે
ક્રિમિનલ પરિણામો – જુના વિવાહ દરમિયાન બીજું વિવાહ:
